The Graduate Student Advisory Council (GSAC) serves as a conduit for information between the Graduate College and the general graduate student population. We relate relevant opportunities, policy updates, and other information to graduate student representatives at our monthly meetings. GSAC representatives in turn relay this information to their graduate student colleagues in their departments. Departments that are not represented in the council are missing out on crucial information and opportunities.
All graduate students can participate in GSAC meetings and events. However, only those who have been designated by their departments may vote on items requiring the official opinions of graduate students, such as offering feedback on procedures in the Graduate College.
Each department establishes its own method for appointing GSAC representatives for the Department. Each academic department has one representative Each GSAC representative has voting rights and is required to:
- Attend monthly GSAC meetings
- Be active on at least one committee
Alternate GSAC representatives and interested graduate students are encouraged to regularly attend meetings.
